Meet ByteGenie: Turning Business Rules into Intelligent Agents

ByteGenie is redefining how enterprises automate complex, rule‑heavy workflows, using a symbolic AI engine that learns exact logical relationships instead of relying solely on probabilistic language models. From ETL pipelines to customer rewards rules, the platform is designed to behave less like a black‑box chatbot and more like a tireless analyst that can explain every step, obey every constraint, and never hallucinate its way into production errors.

In this spotlight, ByteGenie’s CTO, Majid Hasan (suggested interviewee) shared how his team is turning a research‑heavy vision of human‑level reasoning into software real teams can trust.

Rethinking How Enterprises Encode Logic

Our call started with Majid casually mentioning he’d “just come from debugging a very opinionated AI,” a line that perfectly captured ByteGenie’s mission to build systems that don’t just predict words, but reason.

Question: What specific problem did you set out to solve, and why was it meaningful to you?

“In our market validation, we kept seeing the same thing,” Majid said. “Enterprise teams were spending a lot of time and money on custom development and consulting just to make software and AI behave according to their own business logic.” Sales, marketing, finance, and procurement teams all needed bespoke ETL workflows – pulling specific data from internal systems and the web, transforming it in precise ways, and feeding it into dashboards their own stakeholders relied on. Off‑the‑shelf tools couldn’t cope with that level of nuance and multi-step reasoning, so organisations fell back to one‑off scripts and long, expensive consulting projects.

“That recurring pain pushed us toward a broader ambition,” he explained. “We wanted a human‑like AI that can autonomously learn the rules and logic of its environment by interacting with it.” Instead of thousands of lines of hard‑coded rules, ByteGenie is built so the AI can infer structure from examples, encode it symbolically, and then execute with the rigor of a carefully checked spreadsheet formula.

“Our vision is an AI with System 2 reasoning – rational, logical, grounded in first principles, and directly understandable to people,” Majid added. “If you can’t see or edit the logic, you’re not really in control.”

Making AI Outputs Feel Safe

Question: What is the most important thing you want customers to feel? What was the biggest early challenge, and how did you push through it?

“The most important feeling we want is assurance,” Majid said. “AI should not make you more anxious. It should reduce the amount of second‑guessing you have to do.” He had seen teams adopt powerful models only to spend just as much time verifying outputs as they once did building them manually.

What ByteGenie wants customers to experience instead is:

  • A sense that outputs are accurate and reproducible.
  • Confidence that every result respects their business rules and constraints.
  • Relief that adopting AI won’t require huge labeled datasets or constant manual audits.

“Our customers shouldn’t have to babysit the AI,” he added. “It should be obvious that the system is doing what it promised to do.”

Earning that level of trust was also the company’s biggest early challenge. “The biggest surprise I’ve encountered is how small the relationship can be between product maturity and revenue,” Majid admitted. In early experiments, one of their least mature products generated the highest revenue and retention, simply because it nailed a critical workflow.

That insight changed their approach. Rather than launching a perfectly polished, all‑purpose system, ByteGenie narrowed its focus to high‑stakes slices where symbolic AI could remove real risk or toil. “We learned to lead with one sharp, trustworthy use case and let customers pull us into the next ones,” he said.

Inside ByteGenie’s Symbolic AI Engine

Question: What is the core technology that sets ByteGenie apart, and how do you keep it innovative, scalable, and ethical?

As soon as the discussion got technical, Majid brushed past the jargon and focused on the engine driving ByteGenie. “The core differentiating aspect of our product is a symbolic AI model,” he said. “Unlike the popular LLMs, which are statistical in nature, our approach is based on symbolic learning that learns exact symbolic relationships from input data.” This means the model can spell out the logical link between inputs and outputs, formally guarantee compliance with business rules, and expose formulas that people can review and edit instead of trusting a black box.

“For a customer rewards model, for example, you can see every step the AI took, every intermediate calculation,” he noted. “You can literally check that no gender, race, or any other sensitive attribute influenced the outcome.”

To keep the engine innovative and scalable, ByteGenie invests in fundamental AI research rather than just wrapping existing models in a UI. “We’re working on the foundations we believe are necessary for human‑level intelligence in real‑world tasks,” Majid said, describing how the team continuously extends its symbolic methods so agents can learn richer rules from autonomous exploration of enterprise data and environment – “more like teaching a colleague than programming a machine.”

Ethics is, of course, built into the architecture. “We address concerns like bias and transparency by making the system’s thinking completely transparent and human‑understandable,” he explained. Every workflow can be decomposed into visible steps with clear inputs and outputs for auditors to inspect. “The standard is simple: no hallucinations, no hidden risks, no shortcuts that create trouble for customers later.”

Turning Deep Tech into Daily Use

Question: What is your biggest bottleneck to scaling right now, and how are you addressing it? What are your top priorities for the next year?

“Our biggest bottleneck is user onboarding and helping them understand how to best use ByteGenie to generate the value they expect,” Majid said. New users can feel overwhelmed because the platform can model many different rule‑based workflows and it is not always obvious where to start. “If you give someone a very powerful instrument with no sheet music, it can feel intimidating.”

To ease that, ByteGenie is making the product more self‑explanatory so it can guide different user roles – analysts, managers, engineers – toward the most relevant features without constant support. “We want the product itself to coach you, not just a human from our team,” he noted.

Looking ahead, Majid highlighted three priorities:

  • Make existing use cases fully self‑served, measured by reduced manual onboarding and support time.
  • Productise the symbolic AI model, with a growing share of revenue from use cases directly powered by it rather than bespoke projects.
  • Drive product‑led growth, increasing revenue from low‑touch channels where users experience value and upgrade with minimal sales friction.

“These aren’t just business goals,” he said. “They’re checkpoints on the path to an AI that people can adopt without needing a PhD or a dedicated consulting team.”

Redefining Intelligent Systems for Business

Question: What fundamental shift do you hope to catalyze in your industry?

“I think we’re at an inflection point where enterprises are realizing that black‑box intelligence is not enough,” Majid said. “They need systems that can reason in ways people can follow and correct.”

ByteGenie is betting that the next wave of enterprise AI will be judged not only on power and speed, but also on transparency, guarantees, and how easily humans stay in the loop. “Adopting AI shouldn’t mean giving up control,” he added. “It should feel like hiring a colleague whose logic you can respect and improve.”

By rooting its technology in symbolic learning and insisting on full traceability, ByteGenie is charting a different path: AI that does more than talk like us – it explains itself to us, and changes when we do. “If we can make rigorous reasoning as simple to deploy as a prompt,” Majid concluded, “a lot more people will be able to trust AI with the things that really matter.”
